So I've been given my first project in two of my classes. I don't have as much of an idea on the casting project that I do the metal fabrication project, but I'm working on it. These are some sketches for the "steel box" project. The requirements for this project are that we weld a steel box that is 7 3/4 by 7 3/4 by 7 3/4. After we successfully do that, we are free to do whatever we want to it to create an art object.
I have decided that I will cut one of the sides off of the box, and weld it to a 6 ft tall metal pole/ wave type of construct. This construct will have a circular circumference, and will have 3 or 4 1/4 inch rod supporters. The rest of it will be in 9 or 12 gauge wire that I'll stretch and twist along the supports. Then I want to seal the inside of the box and paint it a bright lime green. Then I will fill it just beyond the point of spilling with water.
This is what I have so far. Still brainstorming. Not even sure if it'll be structurally stable with the added weight of the water.
